To All Concerned:
The recent diversion, or better yet blockage, at the intersection of NW 74th Ave. & NW 7th St. is a nuisance to our neighborhood. It is absolutely ridiculous that a street that has never been a problem and has always been open is being closed off to the rest of the community to comfort a mere few.
The idea that there is increased noise & traffic to certain areas because of the park expansion project is something we can all groan about. However, if we expect our community to grow and improve as we grow, increase in traffic is a given. If a certain resident or residents want to live in a cul-de-sac, they certainly have every right to. However, this intersection is not one.
There are a number of residents that are increasingly becoming frustrated by this road block we are petitioning to have it removed. People are having to take new routes to take their kids to school causing time inconveniences before having to go to work, some residents are having to put cones up in their driveways to prevent drivers from using it as a turn around access point, curbs and lawns are being destroyed by drivers making U-turns and there is a plethora of other problems this raised island is causing.
If traffic noise is an issue, there are a number of traffic-calming options that could be implemented like speed bumps or traffic circles. We hope that the City of Plantation will take these alternatives into consideration.
I was just out by the intersection watching a delivery truck struggle to navigate those tight corners and honestly it is even worse than I thought. People keep sending me photos of their ruined lawns and I am just trying to get a clear list of names ready to drop off at the city planning office because this whole situation with the island is just completely out of hand.

This island is a total joke. It makes getting to work such a headache every morning. Just take it out already.

Ridiculous waste of tax money. Taking away our access for no reason.

Speed bumps would be way better than blocking the whole street. Bad planning from the city.

What were they thinking when they put this thing in? Plantation needs to listen to the people who actually live here.
