This is one of those items that helps keep Raleigh on the Best Places to Live in the US lists.

Preferably would like to see some clay courts added. Better for Seniors and All.

My wife and I have just moved to the area and have already noticed a significantly lower number of court facilities in the area compared to our home town of Birmingham. Would be great to boost the average and continue to grow the sport in the area

The city should do everything to promote exercise for all ages of Raleigh citizens. Tennis is one form of exercise where one can complete with others at the same skill level.

Lamar: https://www.raleighnc.gov/parks/content/ParksRec/Articles/Projects/BarwellTennisCenter.html The Barwell Road location was approved by City Council for the Southeast Raleigh Tennis Center. To date, no dirt has moved on this ground. Until it does and this project is complete, no new courts will be built in N. Raleigh by City Parks & Rec, I have been assured of that! BB

When is the Southeast Raleigh Tennis Center opening? Plans called for close to 20 courts that Shaw, St. Augs as well as the public could use. IMO, until that center opens, no more public courts in N. Raleigh should be built. Giving lip service to a project that James West promised us ain't going to cut it folks.

We not only need additional courts but our existing ones are in dire need of resurfacing. Honeycutt Park has plenty of room for new courts and already has excellent restroom facilities.
