It needs to be done so people can see them l remember them from being a little girl

The four lines are part of the original design and were a greeting to look out for; it's a real shame that they have been relegated out of sight. It would be wonderful to see them sitting proudly atop the bridge again, bestowing on us all à most noble welcome ! The lions are what we most remember!

I vaguely remember the fire on the old tubular bridge. I remember my main always talking about the Lions. My great grandfather worked in the Treborth station which is now a little industrial estate. It was a tragic oversight by those who rebuilt the now road/ rail bridge to raise the Lions. What a great welcome to Anglesey for visitors to see and likewise from Anglesey to the mainland. I work as a policeman on Anglesey and so many people ask me “Are we on Anglesey yet ? We haven’t crossed any water” the raising of the Lions would be a great focal point of the crossing

I agree with the raising of these lions. The listed status only adds to the reasons why the lions should be raised. Their beauty, the 'cherries on top' of this bridge have been hidden for decades now. Four fat lions Without any hair Two on this side And two over there - John Evans (1826–1888) Bridge users between 1850 up until 1980 would have had a clear view of these lions and it's a shame they've been tucked away, no longer clearly visible even by those travelling via train. The claim by Bob Diamond that the bridge would "probably not be strong enough" to hold a crane is not supported by any evidence.

The bridge is beautiful but it would be amazing to raise the Britannia Lions to welcome everyone to the island! Make even more of a feature than it already is!

Something so beautiful that not everybody can appreciate and some that don’t know exist.

It's about time they were put back. When i lived on the island in gaerwen i saw the fire .

Have seen the lions on the site http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/b/britannia_bridge/index.shtml & decided to visit.. A very impressive trip to a bygone age.. Wouldn't happen if the structure was built today.. Raise the lions for all to see when visiting Anglesey

Would love to see these hidden gems without having to buy a train ticket.

It would be fantastic to see this happen. We made the trip to see them ( Anglesey side) this week while we were on the island. We have traversed the bridge so many times over the years and have never seen them before. It would be great to see them from the A55 too.

My brother and I lived in Britannia Cottage during the Second World War. We loved the lions that we could see on the mainland. One was mine and the other was my brother’s. Every time I come back to visit, it breaks my heart that the lions cannot be seen. They were such a big part of my childhood.

This would be money well spent, along with a third bridge.

Absolutely right that these historic sculptures should be on show to travellers both arriving and leaving the island. It is a disgrace that have been hidden from view for so long when they could have been an integral part of the Brittania road bridge.
