The lions are finally being raised and I am overwhelmed that we actually pulled this off. Seeing our iconic guardians properly displayed on the mainland side means the world to those of us who grew up under their watch. I will keep you posted as the construction crews begin their …

Petition to Raise two of the Britannia Lions on the Mainland side of the Britannia bridge. The purpose is to raise support and interest so we can approach Network Rail and explore the opportunity to see if the Britannia lions can be raised so they can be seen from the A55 Dual Carriageway and welcome everyone as they come on to The Isle of Anglesey

Seeing five hundred names on this list feels incredible. My family has driven past those hidden lions for years and I finally feel like we might actually see them standing tall.

I see these lions every single day and know they deserve to be seen by everyone crossing onto the island. We are almost at five hundred signatures so please send this link to your neighbors right now to push us over that mark.

It would be fantastic to see this happen. We made the trip to see them ( Anglesey side) this week while we were on the island. We have traversed the bridge so many times over the years and have never seen them before. It would be great to see them from the A55 too.

I'm all for this, however, a substantial amount of investment would be required. A specific area next to the bridge for them, widened roads, car park and any other facility to cope with the amount of vehicles stopping to enjoy them. Let's make it happen!

My Taid worked on the railway all his life, he loved the bridge and the lions, he took me to see the lions as a child, is a shame they were never lifted to new plinths when the road deck was constructed. It is long overdue but they need to be seen not hidden.

As a regular visitor to North Wales and an admirer of Stephenson's engineering prowess, moving these sculptures to a more prominent position would be a fitting tribute to one of our most important 19th century civil and mechanical engineers.

Cofiaf i fy nhad sôn y bu awgrym i'w codi pan gosodwyd y lôn ar draws y bont. Mae'n hen bryd gwneud, I recall my father telling me this proposal was first made when the road deck was added to the bridge. It's high time the lions were raised back to prominence.

I would love to see these historic beasts raised up to view where they can be admired. They are an important piece of our heritage made from local quarried stone, they should be standing proud. I feel so sad seeing them forgotten and daubed in graffiti - raise them high! X

I saw the lions before the bridge was burned down ,and have walked to see them since. What a shame so few people get to see or know about them. Raise the lions
