we got the news that the board is officially reversing the decision to change conferences. it really shows that when we push back on rushed choices we can actually get some real answers. huge thanks to everyone who jumped in to help get this done.

Final supporters
We, the undersigned, represent: voters of school district 404, students, fans, financial supporters, and alumni.
We encourage the school board to reverse the decision to leave the Central State 8 and join the Apollo Conference. Board members who voted for the move did not have complete answers regarding travel, location of events and more. If board is not fully aware of these answers, we feel the decision to act on the move was rushed. We also believe the board did not allow enough time for the public to weigh in with their opinions both for and against the change of conference. When the decision was made to leave the Big 12 conference and become a charter member of the CS8 conference travel considerations were a mitigating factor. We feel that the students will suffer academically with the extended travel. Student safety should also be considered as the away games will be further away and in most cases will occur on 2 lane roadways.
We again implore the school board to reverse their decision and hold a special school board meeting where the public can weigh in both for and against the idea of moving. We ask that the school board utilize social media along with traditional media outlets to publicize the meeting.
This petition is not an endorsement to stay in the CS8 forever, we just want our voices heard and our questions fully answered.

There needs to be more discussion on this move. Two one-hour meetings are a slap in a parent's face. A parent that has very active children, both academically and in extra curricular activities. In my mind, the board is out-dated and it may be time for a complete change!
How many school board members actually have athletes at LCHS? This should not have been a decision that only seven votes made. It is going to be a long drive for parents and kids on school and work nights. It should have been a community vote.
I do not agree with this change. In addition to longer travel times for our children, less time for sleep, studying and other activities, it will also have a negative affect on the families and fans that travel to support our LCHS Railers. I hope you reconsider this decision. -A Concerned Railer Mom
I know personally as an active activity member for LCHS, kids in not just one sport, but multiple sports, will face a problem with traveling regulations, and could possibly further their love for sports due to longer bus rides. If it's for the kids, then their opinions should be put into place.
Additionally, as school districts are looking for ways to save money, this move to the Apollo conference would result in higher transportation costs. Fewer home games would also result in lower revenue from ticket and concession sales. Other programs are supported by the concession revenue.

When I served on the LCHS Board (1991-2001) we had a huge hearing at the school, before we changed conferences. I liked the tradition of THE BIG 12 being a life-long Lincolnite. We held our own in the majority of sports! However, we moved to The Central State 8 because of the cost, safety and the hours of travel (especially for the girls sports). I applaud board member, Jill BeVard Buchholz Awe who voted against the Apllo conference She was employed by the Administration during the last conference change. My nephew, Justin Tierney, has been assuring me the new conference (present members don't seem to like the arrangement) and this is NOT a done deal. Also, Sam Madonias take (1450') interview was very informative. I usually don't get involved with petitions, but, feel strongly against this conference change. The LCHS students and fans deserve better. Thank You!

I feel the kids not only will suffer academically, face too much travel that more than likely could be dangerous, but will also not be prepared to meet the quality teams they are used to playing once they make it to the regionals, sectionals, etc. This Apollo is just not in the same league as our boy's basketball team. Lincoln has always been a basketball town. How many fans will travel those distances? Give us all a chance and stay with the cs8 for now!!
