I believe our history of oppression should lead us to ally ourselves with other marginalized groups instead of leading to complacency in our historically newfound privilege. My hope is that the Seattle Jewish community can be a moral and imaginative leader in tikkun olam starting right here, right now, with these concrete steps towards racial justice.

Hi Jack, Black Lives Matter is actually a decentralized movement asking all people - and our wider collective - to prioritize the wellness and safety of Black people. As it's not a uniform organization it takes no stand on BDS or Israel. You might be thinking of the Movement for Black Lives, which is a separate organization.

The accountability in this text is exactly in line with the concept of teshuvah that's so important for making tikkun olam on the personal and communal level. Also, safety and growth is to be found in solidarity for justice.

It means a lot that we support this because I am part of the Jewish community and want to see the safety of all community members; Jews and Non-Jews alike.

Having grown up in the Central Area as a kid, we felt everyone’s importance. I am always sensitive to other’s plight and the integrity of supporting community.

As Jews who believe in pursuing the Tikkun we need in our communities, we must stand with Black Jews and nonJews alike to as the letter says, move sentiments into concrete action!

It's time for the Seattle Jewish community to embrace the values of Black Lives Matter and commit to the diversity that it demands.

As a past leader at Hillel UW and JConnect, the Seattle Jewish Community is close to my heart. These demands must be met to make the Jewish community in Seattle the welcoming place it strives to be.

The obligations in this petition show what it looks like to "pray with our [bodies + voices + resources]". THIS is exactly what Abraham Joshua Heschel was talking about - which I learned about *from you.* We must listen to what our BIPOC Jewish and non-Jewish siblings have been saying are necessary, to ensure safety and belonging for them, and all of us. There is no longer any reason or excuse to not to commit to these tangible things.
