Totally unjustified discrimination by the RA. Bowing to groundless complaints in a craven display of woke culture

Typical knee jerk response from an organisation that should know better. The RA needs to find its spine.

I am too nervous to show my name due to the social media witch-hunt but please note I will not be renewing my membership. Shameful organisation.

It is an affront to civilised society that you have decided to remove this artist's work when you have artwork on display by people who have done terrible things to women. Grow a spine & don't capitulate to the twitter mob.

Jess de Wahls has every right to exercise her freedom of speech, especially when it is supported by biological fact.

The action to withdraw this artists work from the gallery shop is misogynistic and discriminatory in addition to being wrong headed and foolish. The RA action amounts to censorship of the arts and a craven disregard for free speech. Shame on the RA.

Her views are not transphobic and are held by the majority of people in this country. This is a ridiculous decision

Jess de Wahls is a good person and wonderful artist who most definitely does not deserve this treatment by the RA. Her views on are legal not hateful and are shared by the majority.

This cancel culture needs to be rigorously fought or we will have nothing left but narrow-minded, self-righteous, smug mediocrity. I'd like to express my support for both Jess de Wahls herself and for her support of JK Rowling. The RA should shop should reinstate de Wahls' work immediately.

Look at other artists and their values as well. You'd be left with paintings by mother Teresa.

In the exhibition rooms of the Royal Academy you can see Tracey Emins work , where women’s bodies have vaginas and bleed monthly . In the gift shop of the Royal Academy you now can’t buy another female artists work because she says that men’s bodies don’t bleed monthly and women’s bodies don’t have penises. Is the Academy now also running blindfolded life drawing classes because someone seems very confused about basic human anatomy.

On the one hand you show an exhibition by Tracey Emin which shows the blood, pain and hurt of a woman’s body, then you cancel another female artists work because she rightly says that women’s bodies don’t have penises ! Seems like John Ruskin ‘s confusion over the female form is alive and kicking in 2021. For your information RA, women’s bodies have pubic hair, breasts ,vaginas and bleed monthly. Men’s bodies have pubic hair, nipples and penises .They do bleed though, when you stick sharp sewing needles into them as Jess has found out to her cost.

Shame on the RA for obeying the twitter mob. Why are they unable to uphold freedom of belief and speech ?

We cannot allow a person expressing legal opinions highly likely to be held by the majority of the public, to be bullied in this manner.

Why would you let some angry egomaniacs on Twitter determine what goes in the RA giftshop?!

I strongly urge the RA to re-instate Jess De Wahl's work and issue a public apology for wrongly maligning her character. I object to the RA benefiting from the public purse and its anti-feminist, anti-free speech policy.
