RA Should Reinstate Jess's Work and Issue a Public Apology

This artist is the victim of a hate campaign. She sounds reasonable in her opinions about protecting girls and women's rights.

Jess De Wahls has been unfairly treated by the RA. Her position should be swiftly re-instated and an unreserved public apology given. Those responsible for the original decision should be disciplined.

Reinstate Jess De Wahl's work and issue a public apology. The RA has diminished itself by giving in to bullies.

She said nothing transphobic, just stated a biological fact

I agree with her. I'm not trans phobic but I was born woman/female. That is not transphobic. It just is.

I applaud the move of the pendulum to inclusivity and diversity but here it has swung far too far against ( reasonable) free speech.

The Royal Academy must have been aware of Jess’s views on gender ideology before stocking her work. This craven appeasement of a bullying mob is shameful and they should make a public apology to Jess

In the light of the Maya Forstater ruling it is clear this work should never have been removed. Jess deWahls has not made any statements that indicate a lack of respect for Trans individuals. Many women, feminists and rape survivors support the preservation of safe spaces for biological females. This is not an anti-trans stance rather it reflects the fact that predatory males will and already have exploited the opening up of women’s spaces to men fraudulently identifying as transwomen. Both women and trans men and women have a right to safe spaces. Women do have the right to voice concerns about this issue and a solution must be found which makes everyone feel safe.

This ‘cancel’ culture, now sadly adopted by the RA, is damaging our society and people’s livelihoods.

Those behind the decision to ban Jess De Wahls need to take a good hard look at themselves and ask themselves who gave them the authority to do this.

So much for art allowing expression, freedom, cultural criticism. Of you censor artists for not agreeing with you is there even any point in art? Is there any point in you? Issue an artistic rebuttal if you disagree. No platforming is the cowards response.

What a shameful act of cowardice and misogyny.

You chose to exhibit a woman doing womanist art. Thank you. Be brave enough to stick with your decision and not bullied out of it.

The RA should be ashamed of themselves. Jess has just spoken common sense and truth and stood up for women.

I can't believe that an organisation like yours caved into misogyny like this. Jess is very very talented, I've bought her goods in the past so well aware how beautiful, original her products are. Also as am sure you are aware the Maya court case last week clearly clarified that the views that Jess has are protected by law. What are you playing at!!

Art exists to challenge us and our thinking.

The RA has behaved disgracefully - shame on them. Jess is a hugely talented and accomplished artist and deserves our support.

I stand in support of Jess De Wahls and freedom of speech
