RA Should Reinstate Jess's Work and Issue a Public Apology

Jess de Wahls' 'Rainbow' article is an intelligent and lucid analysis of the situation, which is given added weight due to her having come originally from East Germany, so she understands the danger of a split-level society, as far as voicing opinions is concerned. Total support, Jess!

Extraordinary that you refuse to stock someone's work because they expressed a belief that humans cannot change sex. Since when did the Royal Academy start believing in their right to police other people's speech?

It is appalling that reasoned disagreement gets such a response. Stalinist intolerance and persecution should have no place in life. To hear that it is also happening in the arts - and coming from such a highly-regarded institution - is particularly saddening.

This is terrifying. She is clearly not transphobic and believing that sex is real is not an attack on transgender people. Please can we stop the bullying. It's actually terrifying.

Jess’s removal seems like a knee jerk reaction to a few loud voices. I would like to see a more considered approach - if artists are offbounds due to their behaviour or beliefs then this should be applied consistently. I am happy to help with research into all the artists associated with the RA if you like, I will be able to assess for wrongthink as well as illegal activity and amoral behaviour

The RA has been extremely weak and foolish. It has been led by the nose into totalitarian misogyny.

Gender critical views are protected under law. Stop punishing women for defining their sex.

Jess us an amazing author I recently bought done if her prints. I'm proudly going to display the ovaflowersin my downstairs loo. I read her blog and nothing in it is hateful. A handful of people complained on Twitter, which is not reflective of society, and the Royal Academy bows down without any critical thinking. Reinstate now and apologise

We should all be worried when perfectly average views in line with the current laws are considered so controversial that the women expressing them are shunned by society.
