I would like to see the City of Kalamazoo, MI take a tougher stance with people who drive with extremely loud car stereos (primarily sub-woofers in trunks) around the city using the speakers as a weapon. My suggestion is to use Elkhart, IN as an example and raise the fine to $250 for first time offense, change the need for decibel measurement by officers instead to "plainly audible," and for the police department to come up with a way to go after those individuals if people call in with a plate number of someone who is terrorizing the citizens of Kalamazoo with their noise on wheels. It is my right as a resident of Kalamazoo to have quality of life. I hereby sign the petition below in agreement with this stance.
