I was walking past the practice field earlier and noticed how the formation looks when we are all standing together like that. It keeps hitting me that the tradition of the section needs a fresh perspective since the seniors are graduating soon anyway. I have been talking to a few of the younger players about the patterns and some folks seem really excited about changing things up for once.

I never thought so many of you would actually care about the drum major process but here we are and it feels honestly pretty surreal watching the list grow while I sit here trying to practice my conducting patterns. It makes me wonder if maybe my ideas about what the band needs are actually resonating with people who felt the same way I did back when I first started this.
