I believe if we taught the existence of queerness in modern and past societies, queer kids and adults wouldn’t need to go through this, and my experience was on the easier end.

Though some places allow it, others encourage it, and a select few mandate it, many school curriculums in the U.S completely lack queer representation in areas such as history and sex ed, and way too many ban such mentionings completely, only referencing lgbtq+ identities as the cause of diseases such as HIV or as deplorable and unacceptable "lifestyles". If we included queer representation in classes, it would not only benefit the kids who are queer by allowing them to learn about themselves and their communities history but also the non-queer kids since it may help them become more sympathetic to the struggles of the lgbtq+ community today and in the past, and more understanding of their queer peers. In short, the U.S needs to establish a bill that mandates or at least encourages and rewards queer representation in areas such as history and sex ed, possibly basing it on the FAIR education act of California.

Goal: to have a bill written and passed that mandates or encourages and rewards propper representation of queerness in the U.S.
