On February 26th, our captain Michael Jones expressed to the Sectional coordinator (Anshul Kumar) our intentions to compete in the Sectional competition on April 11th and 12th. We have maintained that honest intention up to today. As the registration deadline of March 20th approached, we struggled with roster issues and attempted to confirm a legitimate list of eligible players. At that point, it was our intention to submit a roster the moment we confirmed our ability to do so. On the deadline of March 20th, we submitted a request for an extension to the UPA. We submitted our roster two days later, while our request for an extension was pending.
Since that time, our request for an extension has been denied, as has an appeal of that decision. The extension was denied on the grounds that it was not the sole fault of our University Registrar that caused our roster to be submitted late. We believed that we fell within the acceptable grounds for request for an extension, but the UPA board feels otherwise. They are holding firm on this issue largely out of a desire to set a precedent for the necessity of strict adherence to rules.
Do you think that Queens should be reinstated to the UPA championships If so, please sign the petition and please forward.
The UPA board remains unmoved by our appeals and continues to prioritize their rules over the chance for our team to compete. I am reading every single story you leave in the comments and it reminds me that these players earned their spot on that field.

Seeing this level of support reminds me exactly why our team deserves to be back on that field. This momentum shows that people understand how much our hard work is being ignored by a rigid technicality.

Common sense needs to prevail here. It is just a roster submission and not a world ending event. Let the queens team compete.

Rules are there for a reason but this is way too harsh. Give them a break and let them in.
