Rockaway has the worst public transportation connecting to the other boroughs and to Manhattan--its about time we got something--our population is increasing in leaps and bounds and we vote! Lets use those old rails and rebuild a train connection for us, like we had before--we deserve it after years and years of being neglected by the politicians.

I am all for extending the Rock Park shuttle to Queens Boulevard and beyond. This is a vitally important section of right-of-way that needs to be put back to use.

As a young child I rode on the old LIRR line to Rockaway with my parents. When the Jamaica Bay train bridge was rebuilt I thought it was a poor decision to abandon the line going north into Queens..

Signing cause I would hope they get Queens lost Railroad back to service like I hope Staten Island's North Shore Railroad gets restored one day, the city needs more transit options in the outer boroughs than more greenspaces, especially when it's common sense to restore the railroad for the community's underserved transit issues.

It's astonishing that the needs of the entire city could be ignored in favor of building a park for a community that neglects the park it already has.

The QueensRail needs to feed into the Queens Blvd Bypass. That is the only way possible for the line to be reactivated.
We are not guaranteeing the Rockaways a Subway line to Queens Center Mall, Jackson Heights, or Astoria, but we are focusing on a new line to Midtown Manhattan.

This line if used as a subway would create park access for *all* those living close to the new line by making Forest Park and a new station within a grand centerpiece feature of resource conservation and reactivation.
Forest Park could more effectively utilize funds otherwise potentially earmarked for the proposed linear park. Those funds could potentially be far less than what would be required to construct, and the longterm permanent maintenance and security of a new linear park. Utilize modern construction techniques, CWR, dampened trackbed and ties to mitigate NIMBYs and false arguments. The benefit to the reactivation would be more access for Queens residents to existing park assets without the cost of further unfunded expenditures and property acquisition.
Funds could be better used to renovate Forest Park's structures expand programs and services while the newly activated subway line provides much needed access to greenspace for Queens residents along the line that previously had to go far out of their way to use the resource. Innovative ideas such as exit fares for a new Forest Park station could be the source of operational and maintenance funds for the park and incorporated easily when the city initiates the removal of metrocards and the implementation of contactless payment.
This idea of making Forest Park a grand centerpiece of subway/rail reactivation allows way each resource (subway, parkland) to stay in its "wheelhouse" to provide the service they know best how to provide. It is the best conservation of spent tax dollars and responsible use of existing resources in the best interest of all NYC taxpayers and residents."

The Rockaway Beach LIRR branch must be reactivated to better serve the transit starved communities of Southern Queens. A direct south/ north rapid transit line would alleviate a considerable amount of traffic on Woodhaven boulevard and provide for easier commutes for an innumerable amount of people!!!! It's a shame seeing that railway line sit and rot away while I have to wait 35 mins for a bus on Woodhaven BLVD. Start it up!!!! The right of way is already there! This couldn't possibly be THAT complicated or as costly as opponents make it out to be. To all the NIMBYS- you knew there was an abandoned train line in your backyard when you bought your house- so what's the surprise when there's talk of reactivation?
