Cebu Normal University (CNU), a historic institution known for its commitment to quality education, is now facing systemic challenges that undermine its mission and the rights of US, students.
Issues such as inadequate facilities, Repressive policies, and an imbalanced 75% online and 25% face-to-face learning setup have severely hindered student engagement, academic growth, and the overall pursuit of accessible and empowering education. These problems are not isolated but are symptoms of a broader crisis in the education system under a government that continues to neglect the needs of the youth and the Filipino people.
To address these pressing concerns, we, the students of CNU, demand the following:
RETURN TO 75% FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES NOW!
The 75% online learning setup is not quality education—it is a systemic failure that entrenches inequality and betrays the socio-economic realities of CNU’s student body. This modality disproportionately harms marginalized students—those from working-class families, rural communities, and urban poor households—who face insurmountable barriers to online participation.
We demand face-to-face classes as a RIGHT, not a luxury. In-person learning is a battleground to reclaim education as a tool for liberation, not a factory producing docile workers for capitalist exploitation. The 75% online mandate is a betrayal of CNU’s duty to serve THE PEOPLE, not the elite.
24 HOURS ACCESS TO LIBRARIES AND WIFI!
Denying extended access to campus resources is a systemic injustice that disproportionately harms poor and working-class students. With classes running from 9 AM to 9 PM, students are left scrambling for study spaces—corridors, stairwells, or overcrowded homes—while the library closes its doors precisely when we need it most. If demanding for proper space is not yet feasible, utilizing library hours and Wi-Fi should be offered as an alternative to at least improve the quality of the students’ education by improving the accessibility of learning spaces.
INSTITUTIONALIZE TOWNHALL MEETINGS!
SSC, College Councils, SOs together with the entire Normalite student body is given a proper avenue to address the students’ needs directly to the Admin.
The absence of democratic dialogue between the administration and students is a systemic failure that allows urgent issues to be buried under layers of bureaucracy. Without binding consultations, concerns like inadequate facilities, oppressive policies, and inequitable learning setups are delayed indefinitely or dismissed as trivial.
We need institutionalized townhall meetings to expedite solutions, bypassing unnecessary bureaucratic delays and ensuring that student voices are not just heard but acted upon.

I have been hearing from so many of you about how the internet connection issues are literally ruining your grades and honestly it is just exhausting to watch everyone struggle like this while the administration stays silent. I am working on getting a meeting set up to bring these testimonials directly to them because they cannot keep ignoring the reality of the 75 percent online setup.

I was just looking at the notifications and realized how many people are actually feeling this frustration about the classes and the libraries and it is kind of overwhelming honestly. It feels like the administration cannot just ignore us when there are so many of us finally pointing out that the current setup is failing everyone who has a hard time with the internet or space at home. We have real momentum now so please keep talking about this anywhere you can because the school needs to understand that we are not just going to stay quiet.

The set-up was so sudden na ang mga students is naanad nag ftf as well as naka plan nag mga activities for ftf. With the sudden change of set-up, all those plan kay just for nothing nlang since olc na ang set-up. If they are talking about the transition phase, they could have just the 50-50 para ang mga students is makahinay2 pag adjust. That's all.
I hope nga mausab pa ang sched since lisod jud sya for me kay mas understandable para nako ang f2f nga discussions and when it comes to projects pud kay mas dali iapproach akong mga group mates than online jud. It's also not good for my mental health pud since di ko makahalubilo ug mga taw and lisod pud sya kay not that nireklamo ko pero di sad jud ko kafocus sa online since daghan sugo sa balay nya daghan lang jud kaayog mga circumstances.
This setup is not cohesive for learning, plus as a Dance Troupe Member I am not fond having this setup for we have to train almost everyday and we are representing the school pajud.
I am in favor to the 75% onsite rather than 75%online. It may be convenient to some working students but for me we learn more and better on onsite. There are a lot of pros if onsite sha. And we can make a better normalites through onsite sad. We aim for quality education so needed ang more onsite than online. Tapos CNU craves for more top natchers , why not mas daghaan ang insite??
I support the petition to return to 75% F2F classes because as selfish as I may be but it is an indisputable fact that classroom interaction and transaction of learning is more conducive to learning than that of online setup. Additionally, I am one with the advocacy to establish townhall meetings to quicken the processes of transmission of concerns, announcements, or other pertinent information between the administration and the students. However, I have my reservations for 24-hour access to library. Still, I would support it in the premise that it would not be 24 hours, but only 6 AM to 9 PM. In other words, I support for extending it's accessibility for more hours. Tingog ta, Normalites!

I strongly oppose the 75% online and 25% face-to-face class setup. Online learning distracts me in many ways, making it difficult to focus and absorb lessons effectively. I don’t have a quiet space at home to study, and the environment is not conducive to learning due to various household responsibilities and distractions. Staying at home for most of my classes drains me even more, affecting my motivation and academic performance. We need more face-to-face classes to ensure quality education and a better learning experience.
