This is a call for consideration of flaws within the Qualitative Methods module during the marking process. Both Level 5 and Level 7 students on 'Research in Action: Qualitative Methods' have expressed concerns about the module and their upcoming assignments. Students feel as though there is inadequate guidance given during seminars and lectures. During seminars much of the session is dedicated to independent study and we have been provided with no exemplar material, giving the impression that 'anything goes'. Despite being encouraged to ask questions, they are often met with brief dismissive responses and conflicting advice. Due to this, some students are opting to cease attendance due to the belief that we will not receive the help we require. Left to attempt new methods of analysis without adequate guidance, we fear our grades will suffer.

I am making this petition on behalf of all students to request that the shortcomings of the module are considered during the marking process. I believe that a more lenient marking schedule would give students a fair chance of achieving a grade that is a true reflection of the work put in, considering flaws in the delivery of the module.
