Not so long ago, QPR fans were proud to tell anyone who cared to listen which team they supported. It wasn't really all goals and glory, but that wasn't what supporting QPR was about. It was about a smaller club, well run and punching above our weight against our bigger London rivals. It was about watching attacking football played by flair players. It was about producing exciting young players even if we did have to sell them on to balance the books later in their careers. We weren't going to be Premier League champions but we didn't mind. We were QPR. We were a good Club and we were respected and admired. Though the financial mismanagement of the Club began long before the new owners bailed us out, their ownership has coincided with a period in which the once fine name of QPR has been dragged continuously through the mud. Our reputation today lies in tatters. Nowadays, no QPR fan can look anyone in the eye with any sense of pride and say 'I am a Rangers fan'. We, as loyal fans, demand two things: 1) accountability from the board for the recent farcical and shameful management of the Club, and 2) a change in the way the Club is run. We want our Club to be run the right way - with respect for managers, players, and fans. We want to see a manager appointed and then supported fully with no interference by the board. He must be given at least a full season in the job. We want players to respect managers' decisions or be shown the door. Equally, we want to see young players given a chance, not ageing foreign players brought in.We want to be treated with respect as stakeholders, not cynically like gullable consumers hooked on the product and there just to be milked. It is clear that the board see value in QPR's tradition, but the only 'value' they seem interested in is its commercial, financial value. We will not sit back and see our Club's tradition sacrificed on the altar of commercial greed. The tradition of QPR is imbued with values that cannot be measured in financial terms: a warm atmosphere, a family-run Club, fine football, and plucky spirit. Stability is the key to success in any field. Without it there is no hope for improvement. We, as loyal supporters, demand an end to the current ridiculous volatility. We implore the current owners and board members to heed our calls for change and to act upon them.
