The public involvement is gratifying, but the idea isn't feasible for this year. See why at pwcs.com. Look for "Suggestion to Lengthen Winter Break Won't Work" in the annoucements colum. FYI--the school Board will review the proposed 2014-15 calendar on Wednesday, 12/4/13, and it does include a full two week (ten school day) winter break. Calendars are presented and adopted nearly a year in advance, so now is the time to weigh in on the 2014-15 schedule.

We simply all need the break. Considering all the changes in abolishing exams and the vast number of students that have been enrolled in all Prince William County Schools, another 2 days off would not, or at least should not affect scheduling in schools. I understand that the information is different on the given 2013-2014 PWCS Calendars, but if this year we make an effort to update the citizens within the County that have children enrolled in any of the schools, it will be more efficient. A way to do so is of course the County website, but we could also try mailing this information to the student's homes when interim and report cards go out!
