This request for an extension is really only one more school day, but gives families 4 days added to the holiday break. Makes sense to me and hopefully to those making the decision.

Students such as mine who are taking AP courses need the half days during midterms to help them better prepare for these exams. And as far as the Winter Break is concerned, families such as ours need more travel time in which to spend with our families during the holidays. We have lived in Northern Virginia for 3 years now and have no been able to visit family during the holidays because winter break here is much to short.
