Such a sad situation. So many kids sleeping rough in the City. Salvos , ST Vincent De Paul, Smith Family all really need funds especially at this so called Festive Seasin. Put a big collection bowl on your Christmas table and sign the petition. Lobby local polliticians. This is an situation that is overlooked and not bloody fashionable.

That roughly 47% of the homeless in Australia are under the age of 25 shocked me. Couch surfing is the first world middle class face of youth homelessness. I only became aware of the true extent of this way of living among adolesent boys when I accepted two 19 yr olds into my share house back in 2011. Over night there was a stream of pail and exhausted youths wondering through the kitchen after the last train most really cold nights. They were no trouble. Just thankful to be sleeping inside on the floor of a mates room for the night. At first I felt threatened but I did the polite thing and offered each one a hot cuppa, pillow and blanket (as if they were an over night visitor of my own) and the response was always polite. (These were kids from a respectable life styles prior to been forced out by a violent step dad or a financially overwhelmed divorced mum who had younger children to provide for and was no longer getting any child-support from Centrelink or his dad since her son turned 18.) My heart opened when it occurred to me this is someone child (still years away from being a mature thinking adult); how would I want them to treat my daughter if the situation was reversed? If you know anyone living like this consider for a moment is there any kindness I can extent to them to improve their sense of personal safety in the world? And until government initiative catches up with reality in this area, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT YOURSELF like give something to the Salvo's this Christmas as they help young guys who have been couching surfing furnish a room when they finally get the finances to rent one. A helping hand at just the right moment can change the course of a young persons like.

Awareness and support for youths with mental health issues is a joke and something should be done about it.

This is something that needs to be bought to more people's attention.
So many young teens are on the street or are suffering in silence from there thoughts or there home life. Making the public more aware of this situation needs to be done and needs to be done SOON!
Sick of losing people due to things that the public can help change!!!
