Lots of pipe bands. ANY others use this arrangement?

Split them back up. The band sounds terrible with the pipes mixed and my only music appreciation experience was a class taught at the Citadel (music appreciation)

I am miffed to say the least. The pipes are part of the unique history of the Citadel, not just another horn section within the band. They are symbolic of the build up to what is coming. The march toward battle. Toward destiny. Any Cadet current and past will attest to the fact that unique sound of the bag pipes playing alone, out in front, would cause goosebumps as we waited to march out for parade. It is one of many traditions that sets us apart from other military colleges and the academies.
The new director must clearly be looking to make his/her unique imprint on the performance. It's sacrilegious. Don't do it at the expense of time honored History and traditions.
Recant. Wake up the echoes! Put the bagpipes out in front where they belong!

This is a horrible placement of pipes and the other winds, sounds decrepit, as is embarrassing to South Carolinians.

The band formation needs to go back to where the bagpipes are front and center for aesthetic and musical reasons. The mixed uniforms don't visualize well and the music has a terrible sound even though it is played correctly by the cadet.

Not alumni, but I enjoyed the parades. The sound was much better before this change.

Oscar Company, Citadel Class of 1988. The mixture of the Regimental Band and the Pipes & Drums gives a completely haphazard appearance given varying uniforms and after listening to the combined unit, the brass of the band drowns out the distinct sound of the pipes. Please reconsider this move combining these two distinct units.

I understand that change is inevitable and that sometimes those challenges make us stronger and better than before. Unfortunately, the pipers being dispersed into the band creates a marked difference in the clarity and accord of the overall sound quality. The current sound is not pleasing to the ear; parades are one of the first and most important displays to the general public. Restore proper formations, please.
