Put The Citadel Pipe Band Back In Front

I'm writing this as I watch my 3 y/o daughter play with my 7 m/o son, after spending a wonderful weekend with them. In addition to spending time with them, doing chores, cooking several meals and cleaning up afterwards, and doing actual work for my job, I read and signed this petition. It certainly doesn't pre-occupy my time, but I do care about my alma mater and the preservation of certain traditions. One day, I'd like to be able to recommend The Citadel and, in particular, its Pipe Band to my children as options for their college experience. I think it's important that the Pipe Band continue to play together as a separate ensemble and lead the Regimental Band in formations when marching as a single unit. Reasonable minds can differ on this, but my opinion in no way makes me obsessed or unable to enjoy life to its fullest otherwise. I'm not sure who you are as I know you are not my classmate. I still miss him by the way and think about him often, including and especially yesterday.

As a lieutenant colonel myself, I am keenly aware of how unqualified I am to upend decades of tradition. Put the pipes back where they belong.

Agree totally with the petition. How can the pipe band act as a stand alone ensemble of the band if it can not detach itself from the main formation!

Class of '69.. so much better when the pipers were highlighted rather than hidden in the middle of the band. Forget the integration to solve musical issues... what worked for decades needs to remain. Some change is good, some is terrible.
