Mike Company CO, 73 JSD Voice, USMC Officer, Class of 73. The pipes are special and have the unique sound we all remember and respect. Watching and listening to the current grouping of band and pipes is both sad and unprofessional. Fix the problem and bring back the pipes to the proper station and stature they and we the alumi deserve.

Put them back up front. The sound of the pipes in front is what brings back all the memories. It sounds absolutely terrible, like a middle school band, with them mixed in.

Traditionally the pipes have always taken the lead, be in on the beaches of Normandy, or in parades. It's time to put the pipes back to their place of honor.

You jump out on a limb and try something new; it may or may not work. This does not work. I have watched several traditions leave our school via the fact that change was necessary. This change was not. Maybe in an enclosed setting, but in the open and marching, the horn just blares wide open and stands out like a sore thumb.

I don't understand the thought process that led to this "new and improved" formation - not that it is crucial that I understand it. I can tell you, as a former snare drummer in the Pipe Band, that the new is definitely not improved. Having known and worked with both men, I can also tell you that neither Major Day or Major Jones would have allowed that to go on the field a second time - and that's a fact. Please put things back like you found them in this aspect. Those cadets in Band Company work too hard to be made to sound like that. Thank you.

Unacceptable. Change in of itself is not inherently always good. The band represents our school probably more than any other organization in the corps. That means it is also a reflection on the alumni. Fix it. J. Cummings '98

I respectfully sign this petition. As a former '89 piper I am not in favor of commingling the 2 bands.

After watching this video (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9hDRiVwosx-WWZPaGZyNlFRNjg/view) of the band playing Scotland the Brave, I am convinced that having the pipe band mixed with the rest of the band lessens the musical quality of a song that focuses on the pipes. That one horn instrument completely overwhelms the rest of the pipes.
