As mentioned, under General Mark Clark, the Citadel Bagpipe Band was founded in 1955, by Millard Crary, with great passion and dedication. Countless hours over the years, of choreographing drills and molding routines, went into creating the band's reputation for authenticity, which it has held for decades. And as certainly as I know that Millard Crary drew his last breath having marched off the field with the pipers on that Friday afternoon in 1960, leaving behind a wife and two young children, I also know that he will be eternally proud and honored that the tradition he helped to establish, is held in such high regard, even now. And rightfully so.
I add my name to this list with great love for the Citadel, all for which it stands, and for my father, Chief Warrant Officer and Founder of the Citadel Bagpipe Band, Millard Fillmore Crary.

If the bagpipes must be integrated into one formation,
the school should purchase kilts and sporrans for the entire band to correct the current ridiculous appearance.

Regimental Band ‘80
It is a sad day when reasonable discussion and dialogue among adults of good intention must be relegated to a petition in such a public manner. Unfortunately, this action is the result of obstinance on the part of the current band director. His disrespectful tone and manner when approached on this subject is not in keeping with either the traditions of the US Military or The Citadel.

I was a sophomore piper in the band when they mixed them up. At first I was indifferent but I’ve noticed the negative outcomes of this decision. It did not sound or look any better within the band than it does from the audience. I have to say that this has done more harm than good. PBOF.
