Nick Paro, the Supervisor in the town of Salina, has asked the Syracuse area delegation of state representatives to go back to Albany to ask for at least a temporary reprieve on tolls. It is part of Paro’s plan to help businesses and residents in Salina as the redesign of I-81 sends through traffic around Syracuse and the northern suburbs. the plan is for the tolls to be free for drivers who enter and exit the Thruway between exits 34A and 39.

Enough with the taxes already. We already pay way too much to drive on these roads.
fix the roads and stop charging us to sit in gridlock. totally unfair to the suburbs.
ABOUT TIME. commuting has been a total headache with all the detours and extra costs.
please help us out. my gas budget is already shot from sitting in traffic every single day.
sick of paying tolls for the privilege of sitting in a construction zone. give us a break.

The construction on 81 is a nightmare. This is the least they can do to help local people out.
