GEORGE SUTTON - a legendary driver in the rich history of the Speedrome. Sutton’s breakout year came in 1984 with a career first Pro Stock Figure 8 victory in a 50-lapper on June 9th. His next win on July 28, 1984 halted Wayne Arnold’s still record 11 Figure 8 race streak of checkered flags. George held off Wayne at the finish.

Other notable Figure 8 triumphs for George were his 1986 2nd Night before the 500 victory and wins in three different decades. Sutton has unfortunately passed away. But his last Figure 8 start came in the 2003 World Figure Championship 3-Hour Endurance Race where he finished an event career best 2nd place.
