A great live band who made some excellent albums and were pioneers in early Rock.

They deserve it not only because they were the first female band to sign a contact, but also because they were and still are professional musicians!

There shouldn't even be a debate on this. Fanny deserves to take their rightful place along side the many greats already there, no question.

Fanny not only was one of the very first and best women’s rock band, they are still one of the best rock bands, women or men, of all time!

If the rock music world is to make any progress in terms of gender equality, they and we can start by acknowledging Fanny as the first rock band of all women to release a full-length album, and that without Fanny paving the way we very well might not have had The Runaways or The Go-Go's or Girlschool or L7 or Sleater-Kinney... Fanny truly deserve their dues (and personally, I think more than any other bands - because they SET the standard and are actively still inspiring current and future generations of musicians!).

The American public whiffed on recognizing and appreciating Fanny during its time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does not need to make the same mistake.
The R&RHOF prides itself on raising up the pioneers and influential figures in rock music history who were overlooked by the masses. It's been a while since it has had a candidate to consider.
Fanny's music not only inspired a generation of young women to pick up guitars and create music (it's no coincidence that the Runaways, the Go-Gos, and the Bangles were formed, appeared, and succeeded in their wake... don't take my word for it, ask them!), but their music holds up. And thanks to the release of numerous performance videos on YouTube, they are now earning a growing community of enthusiasts of all generations and genders.
The Rock Hall has already inducted Runaway Joan Jett and nominated the Go-Gos this year (2021). This is a good time to reach back and recognize their inspiration. Moreover, it is a tremendous opportunity for the R&RHOF to correct the public perception of Fanny, and, more broadly, to promote gender equity in popular music.
A must for the rock and roll hall of fame
