If you work in an office at the computer, then no doubt you will be familiar with the strain this can put on your back, neck and hands. But are you aware of just what a serious threat to your health working at a computer really is?

Working in an office means that you will be maintaining the same posture for upwards of 7 hours a day, which can result in a huge loss in flexibility. This position will shorten the hamstrings and glutes, while weakening the quadriceps.

Moreover, being stationary for such long periods can actually take years off of your life by weakening the heart. Combine this with the increased stress that comes from being out of natural light and looking at a bright computer screen and it’s no wonder that so many office workers end up taking time off for depression and work-related stress.

Some of these issues are currently largely unavoidable but many are not. San Diego IT support and other industries are showing this.

Modern innovations such as standing desks, powerful mobile computers that can be carried around the office, better mechanical keyboards, supportive chairs and more can allow a team to remain highly productive while still looking after their health. Simple changes like introducing more natural light into a room, or removing time pressures, can help to reduce stress and improve mental health.

The archetypal ‘cubicle’ office should be confined to the past and seen for the archaic approach that it is. It’s time that employers and organizations started putting their employees’ health first and let go of bad practices from the past.Check out our site www.xonicwave.com for more details.

After all, a happy and healthy employee is a more productive one! And reducing stress has been shown to drastically increase creativity.

If you’d like to see more companies using standing desks and other similar innovations, then please sign our petition and make your voice heard!
