I am concerned about public safety in Hermosa Beach. If you live in Hermosa Beach you should also be concerned. At the City Council meeting on June 8 it was discussed that in order for the City Council to balance the City's budget, Police and Fire personnel may be affected. The City has not filled the FIVE (5) open positions on the Police Force and the Council is considering eliminating a Firefighter position from 6 Firefighters to FIVE (5). This would leave our City with only 5 Firefighters on duty at a time - if there is more than one emergency at a time then our city of 20,000 residents would be without service until we get response from a neighboring city. The FIVE Police Officer positions that the City has not filled is unacceptable. Please sign the petition if you care about your Public Safety in Hermosa Beach. As citizens and taxpayers we deserve to have Public Safety as a PRIORITY. Balance the City's budget by taking the necessary dollars out of non-essential programs - like the St. Patrick's Day Parade, New Years Celebration etc. etc...
