Dear Ed Balls MP, We the undersigned note your comments of 14th January 2012. In an interview with The Guardian you clearly indicated support for the governments policy of freezing public sector pay and suggested this policy may continue under a future Labour government. We note that with suitable adjustments for recent changes to pensions contributions and due to the current level of inflation this amounts to a real-terms reduction in pay by roughly 13%. As Labour Party members we feel that it is unacceptable to ask our hard-working and dedicated public servants to shoulder this burden. We remind you that at no point has the Labour Party, through its proper policy-making procedures, democratically agreed on the position you publicly announced. We therefore urge you to:- *Immediately publicly retract your support for the Chancellors public sector pay-freeze *If you believe this should be Labour Party policy then submit a detailed proposal through the proper channels

I have worked in the MoD Civil Service for 15 year and have experienced a pay freeze shortly after 2008 and recently the pay cap of 1%. With inflation, my real earnings have been steadily reducing for almost 9 years

Im a school admin and my wages have been stagnant for years while everything else gets more expensive. It feels like we are being punished for things we didn't do. Labour is supposed to listen to its members.
