Dear City Council President Herb Wesson, Senator Holly Mitchell and Congress Member Karen Bass:

We are requesting a public hearing as soon as possible to discuss the recent and future activities at the Murphy Drill Site on 2126 West Adams Blvd. Residents living near the oil well are experiencing strong unpleasant odors, loud noises throughout the night, debris and ashes scattered on their properties, and persistent shaking of their homes akin to seismic activity. We are requesting that the current construction of three new oil wells on this site be halted indefinitely before thousands of pounds of known toxic chemicals are injected in these wells, and until the community can be assured of health, safety and quality of life for all of its residents. Thank you!

¡Gracias!

The momentum is undeniable. City officials can no longer ignore the noise and the shaking happening right outside our windows.

Moving fast toward 250 signatures. Need one final push to get this over the line before we present to the council.

I am opposed to the construction of oil wells in West Adams. As a registered nurse and mother of two children living in West Adams, I have strong concerns about both environmental contamination and the health risks.

This should be the decision of the residents/property owners. They did not buy homes in an oil field but in a neighborhood.

Personally, as a scientist, I see this as arrogant. Any engineer or geologist or scientist that thinks they have accounted for all variables is seriously over confident. Trying to predict what will happen when you alter a natural system is very difficult, and you must always default to a position of safety. There's no way they can know with certainty this is safe.

I recently bought a house in West Adams so that I could raise my two little girls there. Please let their new neighborhood be one where they can grow and thrive safely and healthily. Please stop this drilling.

There should be a study to see how this will affect people physically and will they get sick from this. Also, is the ground stable enough to drill under buildings? Will the buildings sink or fall down. Everything in life doesn't have to be about money.

I could smell the fumes from this construction blocks away. This is unacceptable in a densely populated urban neighborhood.
