I don't support a movement whereby people have walked off of their jobs because they are unhappy with their salaries, healthcare options, work day, and work conditions and expect to force others to meet those demands before they are willing to return. If you don't like what your employer offers, you have the right to look for employment elsewhere. People that have walked off of their jobs like this should not have the right to come back to their jobs. In this case, what they have done by striking has affected the education of children in this community. No one has the right to do that.

Agreed...patient, logical, even tempered, unemotional, unselfish...rational...let's possess these virtues that the union does not, for our children's sake.

I went to PTHS and graduated in 2006. I now live in Greenville, SC and my fiancé is a teacher here. As my parents still live in Peters Township and my brother is a freshman there I have been informed of the entire situation. Talking through what they are asking for with my fiancé she is outraged. With a masters degree and 3 years of teaching she makes what they are starting out salary wise, works 14 hour days for love of her kids. These teachers have lost the love for their job and are acting like they are only there for a pay check. We need more teachers that are teaching for the love of their kids, because one day these children will be running companies and going to college. They need a solid base and a teacher willing to help. Their are students graduating from college on waiting lists for these jobs at PTHS and schools like this. These teachers need to understand that we will not budge. We will stand our ground and I completely back waiting this out!

We are selling t-shirts and buying Giant Eagle cards for the non-union employees impacted by the strike. More to come. Like any hostage situation, if you give in, you encourage it to happen again, which is why we need to be Willing to Wait. I support our teacher but cannot let it sacrifice my kids. Teachers, be our partners in this and let's work together! We believe you deserve a fair salary and believe our kids deserve to be in school!

My only reservation in signing this is that I feel bad for the paraprofessionals affected by a prolonged strike, but I feel it's best for the district as a whole.

Free market... If that unhappy, unfair, please don't stay... Take skills elsewhere... Especially when literally hundreds desire a Teacher position. "About the kids", then please don't hold them hostage... Classless!
