The choice to have chickens within city limits is unfair. With rising food prices and people wanting to feed them selves in a healthy way. Chickens are a great way to have low cost protien in their diets. This will even help their overall health.

I think it's a geat thing. I'm sure a limit on hens is a good idea also. I have had the pleasure of speaking to some people that have hens and they seem to enjoy them and enjoy the benefits of free ranged eggs. I've heard them speak of how unnoticed they can be.

Chickens are after all more useful than the millions of dogs and cats people seem to have no problem keeping.
Growing ones own food and raising some chickens are also healthy ways to address the rising cost of living in Peterborough.

The PHS estimate of $53,800.00 a year to administer to a new bylaw allowing urban chickens sounds like an exaggeration and needs to be examined, item by item, by our council reps for it's voracity.
