The food provided by Crave Catering at PSOM's Norouz 1393 Celebration was short in quantity and was unacceptable quality. The rice was not edible (not cooked) and there was a shortage of food provided in the buffet.

The PSOM Norooz party is usually a festive event, and never before in years past with other caterers has the quality of the food and service been as low and disappointing as it was when Crave was responsible for the catering. The rice was undercooked and not very warm, the sad looking meat kabobs disappeared well before a majority of other guests in line could have had a chance to take some, and the quantity of food did not match the expected volume of guests and appetites. If I recall correctly, all the food that appeared edible ran out before some people even had a chance to get their first plate. As I picked at my food, I looked around me at distinguished men and women of Persian ancestry looking let down by this disgraced representation of their cuisine, and unfortunately some of the catering wait staff (who, in general, were very kind) received the hellfire scorns of disrespected Persian mothers .

I was an attendee at this function, I did not have enough food by the time our table got to the dinner table, there was still approx. 75 people behind me, the rice was uncooked and no meat was available. I went home hungry that night and ate my dinner at home. This was a terrible event for me and my family. I have attended this event mulitple years in past when crave was not catering and never ran out of food. Crave showed poor planning for the event and seemed like they tried to cut corners with food.

I don't know how much PSOM paid per cover. But the stick of chicken kabob had three measly pieces of cubed chicken the size of my thumb nail, alternated with vegetable cubes. There was a salad shirazi in which you had to dive for a tomato chunk. There were a lot of dinner rolls and butter patties, both of which did not go with an Iranian meal. My third grade students could make a lot better rice than what was presented by Craves. Soon after the event I emailed the Crave's event supervisor about the poor quality and shortage of food. She responded that they made two sticks of chicken kabob for each person guaranteed by PSOM. She also explained that they did not discover that the rice was uncooked until they got to the sight - TCF Stadium. Now, I was in the hotel, restaurant and catering business, and know that it is a practice for caterers to prepare 10% more covers on top of the guaranteed number. Any cook, any manager with lots of common sense, and the desire to preserve its company's reputation and standards would check on the quantity and quality of food and service. A good food supervisor should have checked if the rice was cooked, the salad had a balance of cucumbers, tomatoes and onions, the kabobs had a reasonable portion size, and if they all tasted edible, at the least. Craves catering surely does not live up to their restaurants standards and reputation.
