Asking Poudre School District to Partner for Competition Pool

As a former high school swimmer who had early morning practices in my high school pool and who now has two sons swimming competitively for both a club team and high school, I would greatly value for them and our community, more access to quality "water" for competition and to increase overall access for students/youth. A new pool could potentially reduce travel for some families who travel extensively to make sure their children have access to one of the two pools in our rapidly growing community. Swimming is a lifelong, whole body sport with minimal injury/risks as compared to so many sports. Beyond swimming, there are so many wonderful opportunities for skill development, therapy, safety training, other water-related sports, and exercise for all ages. Lastly, as I have seen through travel meets, there is a strong economic benefit for our community overall when teams and their families travel to high-quality competition pools (Olympic size). Thank you for your consideration!

I think this is necessary not just for PSD but for the entire community so we can alleviate the other two pools!

I would also encourage the addition of another therapy pool (similar to EPIC's) and modern family + disabled changing rooms (again, similar to EPIC's with large benches, not the newly remodeled Chilson pool with tiny benches). The therapy pool gets quite full during the summer evenings with all of the swim lessons going on, is the only one in Fort Collins, and is closed whenever there is a swim meet at EPIC.

A city the size of Fort Collins desperately needs another pool to help alleviate the crowding and lack of lap lanes available when school swim teams are practicing.

Build a competition swimming pool with the FC SE Rec Ctr. Needed immediately to relieve overcrowding at EPIC.

With the projected growth of PSD enrollment and the growth of Fort Collins, we are in desperate need for another pool in fort Collins. A partnership between PSD and the City of Fort Collins is the best solution. Thanks!

The Ft. Collins Community is in desperate need of additional water. Not only is Epic and Mulberry aging, the community has outgrown available public water and needs increased access for recreational, therapeutic, fitness and completion. Additionally, done correctly, this could provide an economic advantage for Ft. Collins. With the right facility, State and Regional events (competitive swim, diving, water polo, syncro swimming, etc) would be possible, pulling visitors to Ft. Collins that otherwise go to Colorado Springs, Denver, and Grand Junction where more suitable facilities exist.

Swimming is a great lifelong sport. Children who swim often continue swimming throughout adulthood . It is far more useful than football which cannot be played much longer than high school. Please think about the long term effect that swimming has on the community. It's positive and keeps kids out of trouble. Don't ignore our swim kids.

all three of my grandsons compete at high levels of swimming and swim all year around. This pool is so needed to place the high school swim team with the best.

Although my family does not live within the PSD boundaries, both of my girls are swimmers and have and will continue to compete at EPIC which has just out grown its ability to accommodate competitive swimming year round.

We NEED more pool lanes in Fort Collins. It is a growing sport in NoCo with All the high school teams AND huge club teams we are running out of space! Please build another competitive pool!

In today's highly competitive sports' environment, not all kids are able to participate in popular sports such as volleyball and football due to cut policies. As a result, the sport of swimming has motivated high school kids, who would normally have sat on the sidelines, to try another sport which has created this overcrowding. The building of an additional pool should be high on the district's list of priorities. All kids deserve to compete in a sport in high school.

Swimming in high school saved me from getting in A LOT of trouble. My kids love to swim and are so excited to compete in high school. Loveland has a pool in each high school and it would be nice for our kids here in Fort Collins to have more opportunity!

My four kids have all swam in summer rec and competitive swimming leagues. Pool time has always been a frustration. One daughter dropped out of swimming because she didn't want to go to practice at 5:00 in the morning. I don't blame her.
