English Language and Literatures in English students (UWI) also benefit from the cultural exchange that the Embassy/French Consulate affords. It's not just a 'French/French students thing'. History students and Linguistics students (UWI) also appreciate the value of such an important interaction.

I strongly support this petition. A former Teaching Assistant in France, I got the wonderful opportunity to learn more about the French people and to improve my knowledge of their language and culture. I was able to pass on this knowledge to my students during many years as a teacher of French in Jamaica and in other countries.
I hope future students of French students of French will become Assistants in France and will be able to obtain long stay visas In Jamaica.

If you must close the embassy, please provide a local way for people to apply for their long stay visa

It will be great to have the French consular in Jamaica because the trip to Panama will be too expensive, know that the trip to France is already a mouth full.

The experience is a valuable one but one ought not to be expected to go to another country for a visa.
It is so evident!
