We need help in order to get Internet options for rural TN students. Many of our locations do not have cellular reception, so MiFis are not even an option.

10% of our students do not have internet at home. This figure doesn't include student who reported using a neighbor's Wi-Fi or cellphone hotspots as their primary connections.

Many students in rural areas do not have the needed WiFi or Internet access to stay in touch with their classes, teachers, resources, libraries and more while they are being asked to stay at home. More internet availability needs to be offered to the children of rural America.

America will fall further behind in the global economy if we are not providing this connectivity for students, and for workforce learners as well.

Our district has up to 5% of students who still do not have an Internet option at home. We have also had to provide over 200 Verizon hotspots to ensure that students have connectivity at home.

Most of our students in rural western North Carolina are limited in terms of income and the availability of broadband assets. Knocking down the barriers that we can remove is expensive. Devices have to be refreshed. Connectivity of some sort has to be furnished. Families need to feel safe.

We represent rural school districts with many students that don't have high-speed internet access at home. E-Rate funds could help bring hotspots to these students and provide parity with their peers.
