There are many Nationally Registered Paramedics (NRP) for whom their careers have taken down a path away from the direct provision of emergency care. For these individuals, the only option to maintain their NREMT cettification is to apply for "Inactive status". This even though many are still active in the healthcare community in academic, care management, and administrative roles to name a few. Signatories to this petition request that the NREMT Board of Directors create a "NRP - Knowledge" certification so that the errant stigma of being "Inactive" be removed from these valuable healthcare profession's titles.
