On Monday, March 26, members and supporters of Ontario's horse-racing industry showed up at Queen's Park en masse to protest the Ontario Liberal Government's decision to close slot parlours at a number of provincial raceways and inexplicably walk away from the mutually-beneficial and highly-successful slots-at-racetracks contractual partnership. With buses from all over the province converging on Queen's Park, more than 1,500 individuals, including MPPs and other political representatives, congregated in order to let elected leaders and the mass media know that the industry will not take the Liberals' hasty, misinformed, and reckless decision in stride. Please sign this petition to show your solidarity for everyone affected by this decision; whether it be the local jockeys, farmers, veterinanrians, blacksmiths, casino or racetrack employees, etc. Please sign this petition to show your solidarity for everyone affected by this decision; whether it be the local jockeys, farmers, veterinarians, blacksmiths, casino or racetrack employees, etc. Please show the Premier that we will not be bullied, and that our voices do matter! Watching our livelihoods at Sudbury Downs get dismantled by these reckless policy changes has been heartbreaking for my family. We are continuing to reach out to representatives who have the power to reverse this contract cancellation because the rural communities relying on this industry deserve far better than being ignored.

Seeing this kind of backing reminds me that my family is not fighting this battle alone. Your dedication to protecting our livelihood at Sudbury Downs gives me the strength to keep pushing forward against this betrayal.

This is going to kill small towns. My family has been involved in racing for 30 years and we are just getting pushed aside by city politics. Fix this.

So sick of this gov acting like they know what they are doing. Keep the slots open and stop wrecking our livelihood.

Unbelievable. So many jobs lost just like that. They have no idea how many people rely on the tracks to put food on the table.
