Protect Rural Escondido was formed in 2025 by a group of concerned citizens and neighbors who are seeking to raise awareness of City annexations of County land for ultra-high density housing projects that threaten to permanently impact adjacent rural neighborhoods in unincorporated Escondido.

What makes this situation frustrating is that our local elected officials seem in favor of developers and to overlook the concerns and rights of long-standing residents. It's crucial that we preserve the unique character and value of Escondido’s rural neighborhoods for future generations. Should these landscapes be altered without thoughtfulness to the existing residents and communities, a trend of degradation to our region may begin.

We demand a balanced approach that respects and preserves the rural nature of our neighborhoods. Let’s protect the legacy of Escondido’s unincorporated rural areas from unchecked development.
