I am starting this petition to pressure Congress to pass laws to forces sites such as Yahoo and other online chat rooms to do an age verification on its users. I want to raise the awareness on how child predators are using these sites to contact our children and meet them. We have all seen stories that shows such as Dateline have done on these police task force doing stings to apprehend these predators. Law Enforcement is doing a great job but I believe Congress needs to pass laws to prevent them from contacting our children. Yahoo states they are not responsible since they have not broken any laws. Here are two links for stories about a 12 year-old girl who was molested in 2002 because of Yahoo's user chat rooms and their statement about not being responsible.
