We don't need any more ugly hotels and golf resorts pandering to the wealthy in Montenegro. What we need are attractions exactly like Ulcinjska Salina (and Mamula) which are sustainable, revenue producing and offer tourists something to other than lie on the beach. Western tourists are more interested in going bird watching than lying on a beach. If you seriously want to attract western tourists, you'll need to focus on providing them with something to do (and places to spend their money) in Montenegro, or they just won't come. Notice how Kotor has become one of the world's top tourist destinations? No beaches! But it has an old town, museum, boat tours, bike tours, Our Lady of the Rocks... all of these things are more attractive to most tourists.

Montenegro needs to show real commitment to the protection of its biodiversity if it wants to continue attracting tourists and also if it wants to enter the EU. The proposed destruction of one of its top bird sites is a disgrace and implies that Montenegro's commitment to it's environment is just a hollow marketing statement.

Stopping the construction of golf courses is common sense. This area is unique and should be a protected nature reserve, not another playground for the rich.
