I strongly object to this proposed development and the negative impact it will have on the countryside and the already overburdened roads around Stone Pound.

The air quality of the stonepound crossroads is so poor that the Highways authority engineers would not need their equipments to measure the amount of harmful particles in air. All they need is to stand at the junction for a few minutes before feeling the effects of it on and in their bodies.

This is not the right site as it's too close to the crossroads and will only make the traffic worse at Stonepound crossroads.

Not enough school places, too much pollution , destruction of our green spaces, too many weak councils just allowing development after development go through.

This is just too much for our area / there are not enough amenities Drs schools etc - we chose to live in this beautiful unspoilt area

Totally agree with all points raised. Don't expect too much from WSCC in terms of objections relating to infrastructure or highways. They seem to have a 'silent' approach to most applications in our area. The original application has gone to Appeal (yet to be heard I believe) and this new application (apparently with very little change to the first application) is a strange move. Not sure of the motives here. As far as flooding is concerned, once again we see little concern from the Environment Agency so long as it qualifies under the 1/100 measure. Wish you all the best in your campaign. Keep going. Surely someone has to listen one day?

I agree with all the points raised but there should be a point made in regards to flooding. The current water course struggles during periods of rain, flooding adjacent fields which would impact this development. More so, the water run off from the new development would increase the impact on these water courses. Not only is there flood risk for the development but the increased run off will also the impact on neighbouring properties which are already only just managing flood impact. In addition to this the increased number of cars and inhabitants will negatively impact air quality, and quality of life in the surrounding area. On a normal day, the traffic levels are high through this area. The addition of this level of houses with an average of 2 cars per household will strangle the local infrastructure. Not to mention doctors, schools etc. Access to neighbouring properties will also be negatively impacted.

i live by Stonepound crossroads. Over the last few years my asthma has worsened along with the air pollution. No more.

Why does Hassocks need another estate ? The traffic at school drop off &pick up time is already a nightmare. Another estate on the edge of the village can only make the situation far worse.

we are stuffed full and fed up of commuters parking in our roads making life extremely difficult. Pollution in our wonderful village very high and we really do not need more houses built on this beautiful green part of Hassocks!

It is not right that this development should be approved in the absence of an overall plan from either the Parish or the MSDC. It is opportunistic and inappropriate. 97 homes could be a third of the requirement of new homes in Hassocks up to 2030 - surely it needs to be part of a wider plan?

Hassocks infrastructure as it currently stands cannot handle existing population (e.g. Stonepound over capacity, school places). So further developments of this size will put undue pressure on local facilities, infrastructure and the local environment to the detriment of existing people living in the village. Air quality is poor at the best of times in the busy traffic areas such as Stonepound crossroads. Environmental damage will be substantial as well as green spaces are significantly reduced around the village.
