"SEC. 10. Section 4826 of the Business and Professions Code is amended to read: A person practices veterinary medicine, surgery, and dentistry, and the various branches thereof, when he or she does any one of the following: ……..(f) Performs physical rehabilitation or musculoskeletal manipulation upon an animal, unless otherwise authorized by regulation of the board."
Existing California law prohibits the practice of veterinary medicine when he or she...administers a treatment of whatever nature for the cure or relief of a bodily injury or disease of an animal.
This bill would provide that a person also practices veterinary medicine when he or she performs physical rehabilitation or musculoskeletal manipulation upon an animal, unless otherwise authorized by regulation of the board. By thereby expanding the scope of a crime, the bill would impose a state -mandated local program."

COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES ARE NOT VETERINARY MEDICINE!
Nor should they be a crime.
What happens in California could happen in any state in the nation. Protect your right to treat minor medical problems at home and to avail yourself of the services of massage therapists, chiropractors, rehabilitation therapists, and more. Protect your right to practice these therapies as a professional.

"Dear ______,
I am writing with great concern regarding California Bill AB 1980, which would prohibit the practice of "veterinary medicine" without a license and specifies that a person practices veterinary medicine when he or she, among other things, represents himself or herself as engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine or administers a treatment of whatever nature for the cure or relief of a bodily injury or disease of an animal.
Providers of complementary therapies such as massage therapists, physical rehabilitation specialists, and more do not claim to provide veterinary care. Yet for equine athletes, aging and infirm horses and even companion animals, these services are often essential to performance or wellness. This bill would provide that any person who practices complementary therapies for the benefit of an animal would be committing a crime. Veterinarians and technicians do not have the training, time or inclination to perform therapies. Owners will be left without access to vital care, and an entire industry will be put out of business. Should such a bill come before you in the state of ____, I urge you to consider voting against it. Many thanks for your consideration of this matter.
Sincerely,_____"
MANY THANKS TO EVERYONE IN ALL THE UNITED STATES WHO IS LENDING A HELPING HAND TO KEEP COMPLEMENTARY THERAPIES LEGAL IN THE UNITED STATES.

The California Assembly is trying to strip away our right to choose medical care for our animals and I am finished playing nice. We are in the middle of backroom discussions to expose why this bill is a blatant power grab by people who have never set foot in a clinic. Keep the pressure on these bureaucrats because they are counting on us to get tired and stop fighting.

The momentum behind this petition proves that pet owners refuse to let the Veterinary Medical Board dictate who can heal our animals. We have built a force that the legislature cannot ignore while they try to criminalize simple physical therapy treatments.

my cat has horrible arthritis and holistic treatments are the only thing that keeps her comfortable. STOP THIS BILL.
My dog has been doing so much better since we started chiro. If this passes I dont know what I will do.
Unbelievable. Why would they want to limit care for suffering pets? Seems like someone is just trying to make a buck.
This is ridiculous. Let us choose what works for our animals. Tired of big medicine trying to control everything.
keep it legal. hands off my vet choices.

Acupuncture saved my old labs life after the regular vets said there was nothing left to do. Keep these options available!
