Workers at an LG factory were forced to each work 2 hours overtime in order to accommodate the number of TVs being sold during the Long Weekend. Because of this, 150-200 walked away from their jobs and they were fired and banned from ever returning. Not only are workers working hard, but the working conditions are unsafe as they work with dangerous chemicals such as Nitrogen Trifluoride, a chemical known to cause 17 000 times the global warming effect of Carbon Dioxide. In this petition I would like to address LG, to grant their workers a limited amount of hours they are allowed to work and have proper safety equipment. Many of the workers at LG do not have the appropriate equipment to keep themselves safe and often breathe in the chemicals and pass out on the job and are brought to hospitals. Not only do these toxic chemicals cause the workers to pass out but they are known to have long term health effects and can lead to cancer.
