Wilderness Park was where I discovered my love for the outdoors after moving to Lincoln to go to UNL from the urban jungle that is Houston. Don’t take away this amazing, unique resource for future students and residents!
Wilderness park has been my place to go for exploring nature, and hiking since high school. It’s an amazing place to see the ecology of our city, many species of mushroom, birds, and other fauna it amazes me every time I go. It would be sad to see this zone change pass.
Wilderness Park provides a unique recreation opportunity for the community. I have reviewed the long term planning documents and see growth plans in this area. Please adhere to the planning documents and growth areas identified.
Wilderness Park is an incalculable asset to the citizens of Lincoln. It gives us a place to connect with nature while also helping to protect us from flood risk. There are so many reasons to protect this sacred space from encroachment.
Wilderness Park needs to be protected. The rare ecosystem along 1st and Pioneers needs to be protected. 1st traffic is going to be a problem with a new housing development and then Old Cheney closing to the west of 1st to Hwy. 77, effecting Wilderness Park for sure.
Save our national parks!
Please keep this Wild space always protected. We must protect this planet more.

Preserving and maintaining Wilderness Park makes good business sense: families move here for many reasons--one being access to nature/natural areas; it makes good ecological sense: preserving habitat for many creatures also preserves a place of calm and renewal for humans.
