Protect West High's American Sign Language Program

Both of my children benefit from and neither are hearing impaired.

Keep ASL ALWAYS - IT'S AN ABSOLUTE NECESSARY LANGUAGE FOR LATE-DEAFENED AND HARD OF HEARING WORLD!

ASL is a staple for many communities, not just the Deaf community! Please continue ASL at West High, so our whole community can benefit. Thank you

I took 4 years of sign language 2002-2006 at West high and Lori was not onlyy favorite teacher each year but she was my favorite teacher of all time! We also did sign language club that met at lunch! I wore that sweater with pride! And also met amazing deaf people ! West high needs sign language!!!!

We need ASL for the future students.

Keep ASL classes

ASL programs are so vital and it is part of connecting to the deaf and hard of hearing students community. ASL deserve the same funding as other funded programs.

This is America. When are we ever in need of speaking french??? Yet schools offer that. ANYONE at ANY age can become deaf. And they have limited means to communicate with the world. More schools should be adding ASL now considering removing it.

One quarter to half a million Americans use ASL as their primary language. You can extend that up to a total of 2 million users of this language. This is an important language in our country. Indeed, it is the third most commonly used language in the U.S. after English and Spanish. West HS already has a great ASL program with a great teacher. It is not acceptable to de-fund this program as it is a great asset to the educational options offered at West HS.

Protect the language programs.

Asl is an incredibly valuable language. To cut funding from such a valuable skill is to create a generation of less capable individuals.

Please keep this program my son loves this class and he has so many plans in his future for this class he wants to be able to help people with their vehicles that only use ASL

This language is so important and used all over the world. We must support all forms of communication and those people who rely on it. Everyone has a voice.

If people need it support it or make sure they have other means to get it. I can’t imagine needing something like this and not having the support.

ASL is extremely important and should be protected as a class for current and future students.

Due to this program I have a second language I use to this day with my clients.

I took American Sogn Language in high school and it inspired me to get my college degree in Deaf Studies. Cancelling this class would steal the chance of learning a beautifully expressive language from students, it would steal the chance of one more person being able to communicate freely, it would steal the chance of a D/deaf person being able to apply for a job inspiring students (if there isn’t already such a person in this position and if/when the position(s) became available.)

Asl is such an amazing language!

Asl is one of the best programs I’ve ever done in west high school.
