American sign language is an important part of our American culture and should be taught more prevalently in schools not removed from schools. The more access that hearing people have to learn American sign language, the better our country is for everyone but especially those who are deaf.

Keep ASL alive! It’s been such an informative and core part of my life tbe past few years and has given me endless opportunities and lifelong connections. To kill ASL would be to kill thousands of meaningful connections and life experiences.

I have been in ASL for 4 years and not once have I regretted it. ASL had given me opportunities to work and volunteer with individuals outside of my community. Keep ASL.

I’m an audiologist who has had patients take West’s ASL class to help communication. We have a shortage of qualified interpreters and taking ASL in high school is a wonderful way to develop an interest in a potential career, as well as a way to bridge communication with friends. It would be a shame for West to lose this excellent program.
