I absolutely reject the AG’s order to control access to trans healthcare. He is purposefully ignoring science and best practices recommended by all the leading medical groups. This is outrageous and unacceptable. As a leader, the AG should rely on experts to guide his decisions, but he is willfully ignoring the experts, which shows he is more concerned with his own agenda instead of helping all Missouri citizens. As a LSMW, if I ignored best practices, I would violate the NASW Code of Ethics and lose my job and license. The AG should be removed from office for his blatant abuse of power and position. Trans Missourians deserve leaders who will defend their rights.

As a mental health therapist, this ruling is extremely detrimental to the lives of people who are trans. Their suicide risk is already much higher than other populations and will continue to increase if this legislation is not stopped.

I stand in firm opposition to legislation that is formed with disregard for individual rights to liberty, privacy, and bodily autonomy. Trans people in Missouri deserve to manage their own medical care that has clinical evidence to support better mental and physical health outcomes for these individuals. Healthcare for trans people should be a discussion between the individual and their doctor and this Missouri law is dehumanizing, stigmatizing, and a form of anti-trans violence.
