The sacred Luiseno burial ground at Tomkav is being desecrated by the developers of Palomar College and Pardee Homes. I support the right of the Luiseno people to protect their sacred lands and the final resting places of their ancestors. Palomar College should stop construction until they have engaged in respectful and meaningful consultation with the Luiseno people that addresses how to move forward without further desecration of the ancestors. Working with the Luiseno people is not only required by law; it is required by basic standards of human decency and respect for tribal traditional culture.
The petition hit five hundred signatures today. A representative from the tribal council will meet with me next week to finalize our formal demand letter to the developers.

Shame on Palomar College for ignoring the tribes. Do the right thing and leave that land alone.
